Project 12: Charlie Dress

Hello! I'm here with Project 12. Yeah, 12!!
I will talk about the others later.

Finally, I can show you these pictures.

I had the opportunity to test this cute dress. "Charlie Dress" from Mingo & Grace .This is the first pattern from the talented Farrah.

     "Sleeveless, swingy silhouette is fitted
through shoulders with a dropped waist that finishes
with an oh-so-cute gathered flounce skirt
that is perfect for twirling".

This dress is in several sizes 12 month to 12 years. It's a PDF pattern with layered tiles to choose only the size you want. "Charlie Dress" is easy to sew and put all together but you will need to use a skill or maybe learn a new one, "Bias Tape Facing", around neckline and armholes.

I will show you the test version. The back is closed with button and loop. But I chose zipper in both dresses. Why? Because was part of the test.

The first dress is size 2 with zipper in a mysterious fabric I bought somewhere. I don't remember, sorry!

You can see my armhole in this picture. I sewed it with a wide double bias tape. It's not recommendable or you'll finish with an armhole and neckline like mine. It's better a thinner bias tape.

My second dress was size 18 month with zipper. The fabric is from the line "Littlest" from AGF. I love all the prints.
When I was sewing this dress, Farrah asked to cut the ruffle 2" from the original but was too short for a dress. So, I cut 1" more and finished with this flounce top.

She was drinking smoothie when I took this picture.

Now smoothie is in her tee

Last pictures show you the armhole, better but still not great.
I sewed facing with bias tape before and had no problem. You have to sew this part slow.

The great thing of these dresses is how much fabric  I used. For the first dress 1yd and for the top only half yard. Perfect!

"Charlie dress" will be released July 1st through Sewing Rabbit's Pattern Member Site. Two weeks later, July 15th, will be available in Mingo & Grace page.

Thank you so much for joining my tester group. I love what you've done with my pattern. I'll have to sew one up as a top just like you did!

Love the dress, but I think I now the tunic even better!

For some reason I find that bias tape I make myself works better... I don't know why!
